What is Argentine tango?

Argentine tango is a music and dance form originating in the Rio de la Plata region of South America. Tango Bellingham is now a repository for information and links about Argentine tango music, and tango de salón, the social form of the dance as it is practiced in the milongas of Buenos Aires.

Andreas Wichter of the group TangoKombinat in Saarbrücken, Germany, has written his manifesto about Argentine tango. We could not put it better ourselves.
